About Us The Ocala Mountain Bike Association Bike Patrol invites you to enjoy your visit to the world class Santos Trails. We are volunteer mountain bike ambassadors whose main duties are to inform, assist, and educate the trail users. We do not have enforcement authority. We are a branch of the International Bike Patrol Association’s (IMBA) National Bike Patrol program (NMBP) which organizes and supports volunteer bike patrols throughout the United States and around the world. What is a Mountain Bike Patroller? That question has been asked many times. OMBA Mountain Bike Patroller, ambassadors to Office of Green ways and Trails. Being an ambassador requires a commitment of your time and energy. Most of all it requires you to ride your mountain bike on the Santos Trails, a trail system that will have you coming back for more. The volunteer mountain bike ambassador will provide assistance to hikers, bikers, and equestrian's. They give information, provide directions, help in minor bicycle repairs and administer First Aid and CPR when required. Some of the requirements to become a Mountain Bike Patroller are good communication skills; he/she should know trail etiquette, and emergency procedures. To become an ambassador you must take OMBA’s class on mountain bike procedures. This is a full day of classes, starting with CPR, and First Aid, and ending with a trail ride. It is a day that usually starts about 9 in the morning and ends about 5 in the afternoon. After you have passed the class you will then become a certified International Mountain Bike Patroller. Our goal is to combine lessons in personal responsibility, achievement and environmental awareness through development of practical skills and the simple act of having fun.
If you would like to join our patrol team please fill out the bike patrol application under forms and follow the
