First of
all I wish to thank everyone that gave me the chance to become vice
president of your club. And I do mean your club. I am looking
forward in working with Renee, Claudia and the whole gang at OMBA.
With the membership we have right now I'm sure the club will thrive
and grow.
In the last couple of years that I have belonged to OMBA what has
happened at Santos is amazing. From a very good to great to an
awesome area to mountain bike at.
Having the campground open then the building of the freeride area
and major trail changes has transformed Santos as THE
place to ride in Florida.
A tip of the helmet goes out to all who volunteered their time:
over 1600
hours of work was performed by members in 2005. Hopefully
this trend will continue into 2006.
I wish to thank my cycling peers
who thought enough of me to be named volunteer of the year by the
Florida Bicycle Association. I am deeply honored to receive such a
award. Without the volunteer base we have at OMBA I do not think it
would be possible. So this award is dedicated to everyone who
donated time to help improve the Santos Trail System. Thanks
Now that the major projects are nearing the completion stage it does
not mean we should lay back and take it easy. There still is a whole
lot of upkeep to perform: trail mowing, clean up and of course
maintaining the new freeride area.
